Salesforce Says The 9 to 5 Workday Is Dead

Sharing is caring!

Cloud computing company Salesforce announced that its employees will have the choice to work full-time remotely, even after when it’s safe to return to the office.

The Salesforce company says that  9 to 5 workday is dead and that it will let employees select one of three categories that dictate how often, if ever, they return to the office once it’s safe to do so.

Salesforce will also give freedom to its employees to choose what their daily schedules look like. The company joins other tech firms like Microsoft and Facebook that have announced permanent work from home guidelines in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Salesforce’s chief people officer Brent Hyder, says as they enter a new year, they must continue to go forward with creativity, agility, and a beginner’s mind- and that includes how they cultivate their culture. An immense workspace is no longer limited to a desk in their towers; the 9 to 5 workday is dead, and the employee experience is about more than ping-pong tables and snacks.

Hyder also mentioned in his writing that as employers, they have an opportunity to create an even better workplace- one that lets them be more connected to each other, make more balance between work and home, and advance equality, ultimately leading to increased innovation and better business outcomes.

The tech major will allow employees flexibility in terms of how they work in three ways.

Hyder stated that they have learned that nearly half of our employees want to come in only a few times per month, but those 80 percent of employees also want to maintain a connection to a physical space. So, they are providing employees flexibility in how, when, and where they work with three ways of working.
